Ethereum has 2.059 million ETH waiting to enter staking, with a deposit joining the back of the validator activation queue facing an estimated wait of 35 days and 18 hours. More than 42 million ETH, nearly 35% of supply, is already staked, while only 96 ETH was waiting to exit at the Aug. 30 snapshot. The backlog represents an estimated 141 to 148 ETH in delayed consensus rewards each day, worth about $348,000 to $366,000 at an ETH price near $2,466. Ethereum limits validator activations and exits to protect network security, creating a capacity constraint when deposits arrive faster than the protocol can process them. The queue has declined from more than 4 million ETH earlier this year, but remains large. Electra rules also allow existing validators to compound balances, meaning the backlog includes both potential new validators and top-ups rather than proving that investors recently bought 2.06 million ETH or that the entire amount reflects fresh institutional demand.
