South Korean exchange Korbit will terminate its Web3 wallet service at 3:00 a.m. UTC on Dec. 31, 2025, after halting new wallet creation and the wallet’s receive function at the same time. Users must transfer assets to Korbit exchange accounts or external wallets before the deadline because withdrawals, recovery and asset movement will then become impossible. Transfers to Korbit accounts are unrestricted by asset type on Ethereum and Base, while Silicon Network assets other than Ethereum must first be swapped into Ethereum. Direct transfers to external wallets are available only for Ethereum and Base assets. The non-custodial structure requires users to authorize transactions and prevents DigitalX, Korbit’s operator, from moving assets on their behalf. After the shutdown, balances will remain viewable through the Korbit app’s More menu, but users will not be able to withdraw or transfer funds. Launched in February of the previous year as the first non-custodial personal wallet offered by a South Korean won-based exchange, the service was built on Silicon, a Polygon CDK-based Layer 2 network developed by Hydro, a joint venture between Korbit and Ozys.
