Non-owner executives at 62 listed affiliates of Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor and LG held shares worth more than 1 billion Korean won as of Aug. 24, according to Korea CXO Institute. The 398 executives collectively held stock valued at 1.05 trillion Korean won. Samsung Group accounted for 269 executives and SK Group for 122, together representing 98.2% of the total, while Hyundai Motor and LG had four and three, respectively. Samsung Electronics had 256 qualifying executives and SK hynix 107, or 363 combined. That figure rose 40.7% from 258 on May 13, despite Samsung Electronics shares falling 9.5% to 257,000 won and SK hynix shares declining 15.4% to 1.671 million won. The institute attributed the increase to broader use of treasury shares for performance bonuses and long-term incentives. Twelve executives held stock worth more than 10 billion won, led by Samsung Electronics president Roh Tae-moon with 31.94 billion won, followed by SK hynix president Kwak Noh-jung with 23.92 billion won and SK Square chief investment officer Song Jae-seung with 18.31 billion won.
