Tesla launched a simplified, lower-priced rear-wheel-drive Model 3 in Hong Kong and Macau on August 31, with Hong Kong pricing starting at HK$205,000, about 8.5% below the previous base model. Including Hong Kong's HK$116,300 first registration tax, the on-road price starts at HK$321,300, while Macau pricing begins at 252,000 patacas. The variant uses textile seats, a heated steering wheel and seats, a standard seven-speaker audio system, and a 15.4-inch touchscreen. Its single motor delivers 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.2 seconds, with charging capped at 175 kW but adding 286 km in 15 minutes; maximum range is 572 km. This is Tesla's third regional budget rollout after launches in the United States in October 2025 and South Korea in January 2026. Attention is now focused on mainland China, where a December 31, 2025, MIIT (China's industry and information technology ministry) catalog listed a Model 3 Standard Range Plus with a 52.9 kWh battery and 480 km CLTC range. That configuration differs from the Hong Kong and Macau versions, suggesting Tesla is tailoring lower-priced models by market. The regional launch also puts pressure on similarly priced new-energy vehicles and could push down China's current Model 3 entry price of CNY 235,500 if the cataloged model is launched.
