Pollen Robotics, the French subsidiary of Hugging Face, sold more than 10,000 Microduck robots during the first week after launch, generating over $4 million in sales at the $399 price. Demand has pushed estimated delivery dates for new orders beyond Christmas 2026. The 25-centimeter, sub-800-gram robot uses a Rockchip RK3566 processor, a camera, depth sensor, two IMUs, 15 motors and a jointed beak, and is designed to walk, crouch, recover after falling and roller-skate. Pollen positions Microduck as an accessible testbed for physical AI, with its SDK, simulation environment and reinforcement-learning pipeline available on GitHub. Rockchip reported 2.88 billion yuan ($428 million) in operating revenue for the first six months of the year, up 40% year over year, while adjusted net profit rose more than 60%. Analysts describe Rockchip as a key supplier for local AI workloads but say its chips lack the computing resources needed for more complex edge-AI devices. Microduck is Pollen Robotics’ second robot since Hugging Face acquired the startup in April 2025; Reachy Mini also sold more than 10,000 units. Hugging Face is reportedly discussing a possible Nvidia acquisition at a $13 billion valuation, although neither company has commented.
