Hyundai Motor workers approved a wage agreement after nearly two months of strikes, completing negotiations at all five domestic automakers, while the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries union scheduled partial strikes after rejecting management's first offer in the 18th bargaining round. Hyundai Motor's package includes a 100,000 won monthly base-pay increase, bonuses and other benefits that the union estimates will raise pay by 40.84 million won per member this year. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries offered a 105,000 won monthly base-pay increase, including 35,000 won in seniority-based raises, 10 million won, a bonus equal to 200% of base pay and performance-based pay outside base wages. The union is seeking a 149,600 won monthly base-pay increase excluding seniority raises, a 100% bonus increase, at least 30% of operating profits, broader ordinary-wage treatment and new hires.
