Kumho Petrochemical (011780) Group and the Weihai city government agreed to broaden their partnership beyond golf-course operations into advanced manufacturing, new materials and batteries. Group executives led by Chairman Park Chan-koo met Weihai Mayor Kong Fanping and other officials in Shandong province on the 27th, with the company announcing the meeting on the 31st. The talks reviewed five years of cooperation linked to the Asiana Weihai Country Club (AWCC), which Kumho Resort has operated since joining the group in 2021. Kumho renovated AWCC after the acquisition, strengthening its position among Korean and local golfers while supporting Weihai tourism. Park called for more active Korea-China exchanges alongside the development of China’s golf industry and thanked the city for supporting AWCC. Kong said Weihai would pursue cooperation with Kumho in future industries and provide full administrative support.
