High-bandwidth memory prices are rising as sixth-generation HBM4 enters volume shipments for artificial-intelligence data centers. The average HBM export price reached $76.13 at the end of July, up 9.5% month on month and above $70 for the first time, according to Korea International Trade Association data released on July 31. Samsung Electronics has reportedly committed about 70% of its memory capacity to long-term supply agreements through 2031, while spot HBM prices can reach five times contract levels. HBM4’s lower yields and higher wafer consumption have reduced broader DRAM availability, lifting the average DRAM export price to $22.90 in July. Samsung and SK hynix are reviewing new facilities and production conversions as the shortage is expected to persist.
