Portugal’s unemployment rate remained at 5.7% in July 2026, unchanged from June. Women faced a 6.4% unemployment rate, compared with a record-low 4.9% for men. Adult unemployment held at 4.6%, while youth unemployment stood at 20.1%. The number of unemployed people fell by 2,700 to 320,200, but employment declined by 9,900 to 5.67 million. The employment rate slipped to 66.1% from 66.3%, and labor force participation eased to 70.1% from 70.3%. The broader labor underutilization rate, including unemployed, underemployed and marginally attached workers, increased to 9.5% from 9.3%.
