Greece’s retail sales increased 1.9% year on year in June 2026, slowing from a downwardly revised one-year high of 6.7% in May. Growth eased in food and non-food retail excluding automotive fuel, while automotive-fuel sales fell 6.9%. Sales also moderated across supermarkets, food and tobacco, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and clothing and footwear. Department stores and books, stationery and other goods recorded declines, while furniture, electrical equipment and household goods rose 10.9%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity fell 1.4% after increasing 3.3% in May, indicating a broad loss of momentum in consumer demand.
