Romania’s producer inflation eased to 8.75% year-on-year in July 2026 from an upwardly revised 13.13% in June, which was the highest level in more than three years. July’s reading was the lowest since March. The slowdown was led by electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply, where annual price growth fell to 6.22% from 23.32%. In contrast, inflation accelerated in mining and quarrying to 10.24% from 8.25% and in manufacturing to 9.65% from 9.09%. Notable annual increases included coke and refined petroleum products at 44.86%, chemicals at 16.56%, basic metals at 12.30%, computer, electronic and optical products at 11.58%, electrical equipment at 9.13%, leather and related products at 6.11%, paper products at 5.35%, and food products at 3.35%. Water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation prices also rose faster, reaching 14.73% from 14.20%. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.69% in July, down slightly from 0.84% in June.
