Crypto industry fundraising fell 74% month over month to $596 million in August from July’s $2.312 billion, according to RootData. The sector recorded 49 deals, with infrastructure attracting the most capital at $311 million, followed by centralized finance, or CeFi, at $199 million and decentralized finance, or DeFi, at $73.1 million. Unlike July, when mega-rounds boosted the total, August funding was spread more evenly and no single deal dominated. The pullback reflects a more cautious investment environment shaped by market volatility, regulatory uncertainty and macroeconomic concerns, with investors favoring projects that demonstrate clear use cases, revenue potential and traction.
