PowerBank Corporation has signed a fee-for-service development agreement with 1001634281 Ontario Inc., connected with the Electric Vehicle & Green Energy Advancement Association Canada, to advance a battery energy storage project for submission to the Independent Electricity System Operator’s LT2(c-2) procurement. If awarded a contract, PowerBank would provide services through the notice-to-proceed stage, reached after full permitting, and would hold a right of first refusal to serve as the project’s engineering, procurement and construction provider. The company will also help explore a potential 18 MW BESS (battery energy storage system) in Hamilton, Ontario. The LT2 RFP is IESO’s main competitive process for securing capacity and energy resources through the 2030s and beyond, while the c-2 window follows the first capacity window, which awarded contracts exclusively to battery storage projects. Separately, PowerBank agreed to settle $817,332 of $1,396,717 in outstanding legal-fee debt by issuing about 1,297,352 shares at $0.63 each; the remainder will be paid in cash after certain project-debt transactions. The shares require regulatory and Cboe Canada Exchange approval and will carry a four-month-and-one-day hold period.
