HashKey expands tokenization role through HKDAP and DTCC working group

  • HashKey joined DTCC’s working group as first Asian digital asset provider.
  • SEC issued a December no-action letter for DTCC subsidiary tokenization service.
  • HKDAP beta access remains limited to institutional distributors and professional investors.

HashKey is advancing two digital-asset infrastructure initiatives: developing HKDAP, a regulated Hong Kong dollar stablecoin, for institutional on-chain settlement, and contributing Asia-Pacific expertise to the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s Digital Assets Advisory Services Industry Working Group. HashKey joined the group on Sept. 2, 2026, as its first Asian digital asset service provider, alongside more than 100 financial institutions, asset managers and digital asset firms, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange. The working group is designed to connect traditional finance with decentralized finance infrastructure and help define how tokenized assets are issued, settled and safeguarded at institutional scale. DTCC completed production tokenized-securities transactions on July 15 across private Hyperledger Besu infrastructure and the public Canton Network, covering collateral, securities lending, U.S. Treasury repo delivery-versus-payment and equity transfers, and plans standardized tokenization services for October 2026. In December, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issued a no-action letter to a DTCC subsidiary enabling a new securities market tokenization service, and SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said the pilot green light is only the beginning as the agency considers an innovation exemption for transitioning markets onchain. HKDAP has been tested in insurance and trade-finance transactions and remains limited to institutional distributors and professional investors during a controlled beta rollout. HashKey’s working-group participation is advisory and does not constitute regulatory approval, DTC membership or a commercial agreement with DTCC.
