AWS and Microsoft have launched Azure Multicloud Interconnect for AWS in preview, enabling enterprises to establish private, high-speed connections between AWS and Microsoft Azure workloads within minutes through point-and-click interfaces in the AWS Management Console and Azure portal. The service is available across four regions and uses MACsec encryption plus four logically separate pathways across physically distinct facilities, targeting 99.99% availability. Azure is the third major cloud platform integrated with AWS Interconnect – multicloud, after Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. AWS Interconnect reached general availability on April 14, 2026, after a late-November 2025 preview, while Oracle Cloud Infrastructure support became generally available on July 29, 2026. AWS says the platform reduces provisioning from weeks or months to minutes, supports AWS Transit Gateway and Cloud WAN, and is based on an open API specification. AWS and Microsoft plan to expand geographic coverage and bandwidth. Amazon shares fell 2.50% and Microsoft shares declined 1.22% after the announcement. Analysts maintain Strong Buy ratings, with average targets of $334.05 for Amazon and $564.49 for Microsoft.
