Anthropic has signed a $35 billion cloud-computing agreement with Lambda, a cloud provider backed by Nvidia, to bring Nvidia-powered capacity online for its Claude AI assistant. Lambda will deploy chips purchased from Nvidia at a data center being developed by Hut 8 in Nueces County, Texas. Nvidia reached an agreement with Hut 8 several weeks ago to secure the facility's computing capacity, while the amount Lambda will pay Nvidia for access remains unclear. Nvidia holds the facility lease and is also an investor in Lambda, according to the existing report. The deal follows Anthropic's $45 billion agreement with Nscale earlier in August as the AI developer works to overcome a computing shortage. Lambda has raised roughly $1 billion in short-term debt for Nvidia GPU purchases to be leased to Microsoft, bringing its financing total to more than $4.4 billion in under a year. The funding model has drawn scrutiny over circular financing risks as AI infrastructure companies rely increasingly on debt and GPU collateral.
