DB Life Insurance nominated Park Je-kwang, a vice president at DB Insurance, as its next chief executive officer after the company’s Executive Recommendation Committee finalized its recommendation on the 31st of last month. The nomination was announced on the 1st, and a Shareholders’ Meeting and board meeting scheduled for the 16th will complete the appointment process. Park, born in 1963, joined DB Insurance in 1991 after graduating from Seoul National University’s business school and has spent approximately 35 years in corporate sales, new business development, management planning and strategy roles. He has led the group’s Management Planning Office since December 2022 and previously headed its New Business Division. DB Life is seeking stronger profitability and financial soundness as the life insurance industry adjusts to low interest rates and IFRS 17. Park’s strategy background could support efforts to expand beyond traditional savings-oriented products toward protection-type and health insurance, although shareholder and board approval remain pending.
