Tuition fee payments are scheduled for October and will go directly to universities. Around the payment period, the Student Loans Company (SLC) warns that scammers may impersonate trusted organisations through texts, emails or phone calls, claiming payments are blocked, bank details need updating or accounts will be closed unless recipients act urgently. SLC says it will never request or confirm personal or financial information by email, text message or social media. Students should avoid unexpected links, check bank details and payment status through their online account accessed via GOV.UK, and report suspicious communications through the official channels. SLC says its fraud-prevention measures saved £56.2 million last year.
