Bitcoin rose nearly 25% in August, from roughly $64,000 to $80,000, marking its first positive August since 2021. Retail deposits on Gate.io reached a record hourly inflow of $11.33 million on August 29, while CryptoQuant identified more than 11 significant deposit-volume spikes between August 23 and August 30. The rally was supported by estimated US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows of $2 billion to $3 billion and short liquidations. Gate.io also supports stocks and commodities, so deposits can reflect profit-taking, capital rotation, new trade positioning or preparations for volatility rather than direct Bitcoin selling. The platform ranked among the top three exchanges by net inflows in July and August, and reported overall proof-of-reserves coverage of 127%.
