Prediction market platform Kalshi barred Republican U.S. House candidate Laurie Buckhout from trading for three years after she bet on her own election outcome. Buckhout, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Don Davis in North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, purchased less than $1,000 in event contracts (market-linked outcome bets) tied to whether she would win. Kalshi prohibits trading by people who could directly or indirectly influence an event’s outcome. Buckhout accepted the investigation’s findings and agreed to pay Kalshi $2,589.96, BeInCrypto reported. Kalshi had previously permanently banned former U.S. Rep. George Santos over insider trading allegations.
