Stock perpetual futures on centralized crypto exchanges reached $665.42 billion in August, up 4.6% from July and 56.5 times January’s total, according to the WuBlockchain Data Center. SanDisk, SK Hynix and the SpaceX-tracking SPCX contract generated 50.4% of activity, extending the concentration in memory and semiconductor names that MEXC observed during the July 20-August 7, 2026, technology earnings period. MEXC found storage and memory stocks represented 67.3% of individual stock futures trading, up from 57.5% in the preceding 19 days, while six major U.S. technology companies accounted for only 2.7%. SanDisk led August volume at $193.58 billion, followed by SK Hynix at $75.89 billion and SPCX at $65.93 billion. Binance reported $342.9 billion in August equity-linked perpetual volume and is adding options on more than 1,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs for eligible users outside the United States, while Bybit plans 24/7 options trading from September 17. Whether activity broadens beyond memory chips will determine if September retains August’s concentrated structure.
