Google’s Gemini has made two additional purchases in an experimental $100,000 stock portfolio, buying one Alphabet share at $335.72 and 30 NextEra Energy shares at $82.79. StockMKTNewz says the portfolio, launched in late November, has gained 24.3%, compared with about 13% for the S&P 500 over the same period. The trades combine Alphabet’s direct exposure to generative AI, cloud infrastructure and related products with NextEra’s role in the electricity infrastructure needed by expanding data centers. NextEra is involved in a planned $100 billion data-center and energy campus in Kentucky that could support more than 1.2 GW of compute capacity, while Google has also worked with utilities on data-center electricity demand. The reported return does not establish that Gemini can consistently outperform the market: the project is an independent experiment rather than a regulated fund, and publicly available information is insufficient to verify every trade, portfolio rule or benchmark calculation. Its latest choices nevertheless test whether generative AI can move beyond market analysis and make consistently useful portfolio decisions.
