TCL has sued Samsung in Los Angeles federal court, alleging the South Korean company falsely advertised its M Model televisions as using Mini LED technology. The Chinese consumer electronics company says Samsung launched the televisions in March at prices below TCL’s cheapest Mini LED models, although the products allegedly contained none of the technological advances associated with Mini LED and were recycled from Samsung’s standard LED line. TCL says its Mini LED televisions provide substantially better picture quality, greater dynamic range and higher contrast ratios. The company also says it overtook Samsung in U.S. Mini LED television sales between 2023 and 2025 because Samsung had not developed competitively priced Mini LED televisions. TCL is seeking an order barring Samsung from using the Mini LED designation and an unspecified amount of monetary damages. Samsung had not immediately responded to a request for comment Tuesday.
