The Israeli startup’s inline firewall discovers enterprise agents, vets tools and plugins, and blocks malicious behavior as autonomous software gains access to sensitive systems.
AI security startup AIR has emerged from stealth with $50 million in funding to monitor and protect the software supply chain forming around AI agents. The company was founded by Yair Saban, CEO, and Niv Hoffman, CTO, both veterans of Israel’s Unit 8200 intelligence corps. AIR says its platform discovers agents operating inside companies, continuously vets their skills, plugins, add-ons and MCP servers, and can block malicious actions or untrusted external sources in real time. AIR’s research identified more than 17,800 public AI add-ons linked to untrusted external sources, representing about 6.7 million installations, as well as fake skills impersonating products from Anthropic and OpenAI that could be used to execute arbitrary code. The funding was described in the latest account as a round led by Sequoia Capital and Greenoaks; earlier reporting characterized it as two seed rounds, with Sequoia leading $10 million and Greenoaks $40 million. Swish Ventures, Netz and angel investors also participated. AIR says it has more than 20 customers, roughly a quarter of them large enterprises, and currently filters out about 27% of the skills and add-ons it finds online. The company has around 40 employees, including an AI and agent behavior research lab, and recently added Ryan Knisley, former Chief Information Security Officer at The Walt Disney Company and Costco Wholesale, as Chief Strategy Officer. AIR plans to use the capital to hire researchers and expand its go-to-market operations in the U.S. and Europe.
