Bitwise’s Onchain Solutions validator added 1.27 million SOL during August, lifting its active stake to approximately 9.455 million SOL and making it the fifth-largest validator on Solana. Its stake stood at around 8.3 million SOL in mid-July, when the validator ranked sixth. Most of the increase came from Bitwise’s BSOL ETF, which stakes nearly all of its Solana holdings through the validator. BSOL surpassed $1 billion in assets under management by late August, becoming the first Solana ETF to reach that level. Launched on October 28, 2025, the fund offers SOL exposure alongside staking (locking crypto to earn rewards), targeting 100% staking of its holdings. About 96% of its 9.33 million SOL was actively staked at a net yield of approximately 5.8% after fees. BSOL accounted for between 77% and 80% of all U.S. spot Solana ETF inflows since launch, including $60.91 million on August 27, its highest single-day inflow of the month. Combined inflows across U.S. spot Solana ETFs have exceeded $1.3 billion since the category began. Bitwise expanded its staking infrastructure by acquiring Chorus One in February 2026, adding established validator operations and expertise across multiple blockchain networks. The validator’s active stake rose 14% from 8.3 million to 9.455 million SOL over roughly six weeks. At the same time, Solana’s active validator count fell approximately 34% year over year, mainly as higher operating costs made node operations uneconomical for smaller providers. Solana’s roughly 46% price gain during August also increased the dollar value of staking inflows.
