S&P Global shares rose more than 3% intraday and closed roughly 1% higher after Bloomberg reported that the company was exploring a possible separation of Capital IQ Pro, commonly known as CapIQ. The platform sits within the Market Intelligence division, covers more than 60 million private companies and provides extensive public-market data to investment professionals. Deliberations remain at an early stage, no formal decision or process has begun, and management could abandon the idea. A standalone CapIQ could be valued in the high single-digit billions and would compete more directly with FactSet and London Stock Exchange Group’s data and analytics business. The review is part of Chief Executive Officer Martina Cheung’s broader portfolio strategy as financial-data providers respond to rising demand for datasets used in artificial intelligence.
