Payward, Kraken's parent, plans to launch xStocks covering the FTSE 100 within weeks in partnership with the London Stock Exchange. The tokens are wrappers tracking individual shares, issued legally by Jersey-based Backed Assets (JE) Limited, and will provide price exposure, round-the-clock transfers and access through wallets or on-chain apps without giving holders voting rights or entry on the share register. More than 110 countries are eligible, but UK residents are excluded. The FTSE 100 was valued at $3.47 trillion at the end of July, while all tokenized stocks were worth roughly $2.5 billion on Tuesday, according to RWA.xyz; xStocks accounted for about $607 million, behind Ondo Finance. Payward cites $40 billion in cumulative xStocks volume, a trading-volume figure rather than the value of stock held on-chain. LSEG's planned LSE 24 venue is due to begin testing by late 2026, with exchange-traded products targeted for the first half of 2027 subject to approval, while equities have no confirmed listing date. The firms will also study LSE-issued tokens carrying full shareholder rights, and Payward reached a similar Nasdaq agreement in March targeting 2027.
