President Lee Jae Myung defended the proposed 820.9 trillion won 2027 budget as a growth-focused response to challenges inherited from the previous administration, while Democratic Party policy committee chairman Kwon Chil-seung said fiscal and monetary policies are complementary and fiscal spending can cushion rising-interest-rate shocks. Kwon also denied reports that the party had submitted measures to raise the comprehensive real estate tax deduction for certain single-homeowners or delay the abolition of a long-term-holding capital gains tax deduction. Separately, the party withheld three housing supply bills from the National Assembly plenary agenda pending negotiations between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, while about 17 other bills were expected to proceed.
