Wrtn Technologies has begun preparations for an initial public offering, sending requests for proposals to major South Korean securities firms to select lead underwriters. The company plans to appoint IPO advisers this month, develop its listing strategy and target a market debut in 2028 or later. Founded in 2021, Wrtn operates the AI service portal Wrtn and AI character chat service Crack. It launched Charafu in Japan last year and introduced OOC, an AI entertainment content platform, in North America in May this year. OOC exceeded 10 billion won in monthly revenue about three months after launch, and Wrtn expects overseas OOC revenue to surpass domestic revenue this year. The company forecasts annual revenue above 200 billion won, after reporting approximately 47.1 billion won last year, up 1,432.9% year over year. Operating expenses rose to 105.9 billion won and the operating loss widened to 58.8 billion won. A 100 billion-won Series C round lifted Wrtn’s valuation above 1 trillion won, making it the first South Korean AI service startup to reach that level. Cumulative funding is approximately 230 billion won. Wrtn also plans to announce youth protection policies this month. CEO Lee Se-young said the company would pursue global growth while developing AI services that users can use safely and with confidence.
