Cognition AI is nearing completion of a funding round of approximately $1 billion that would value the artificial intelligence coding startup at about $47 billion, up nearly 81% from $26 billion three months earlier. Investor interest has approached $10 billion, roughly ten times the targeted supply, and the final raise could exceed $1 billion, although negotiations remain ongoing. Cognition's annualized revenue has surpassed $900 million, compared with the $492 million it disclosed at the end of May. Its Devin AI engineering agent autonomously performs programming tasks, while the company has increasingly focused on enterprise customers and larger contracts. The valuation trajectory has accelerated from $10.2 billion in September 2025 to $26 billion in May 2026 and a reported target of at least $40 billion in August. Sector demand has also been influenced by SpaceX's $60 billion acquisition of rival Cursor in August. If completed, the round would place Cognition among the world's most highly valued unlisted AI companies while raising pressure to sustain growth amid competition from major technology companies and funded startups.
