MultiversX has given node operators nine days to prepare for Supernova, an upgrade scheduled for Sept. 10 during epoch 2233. The change is designed to cut block times from six seconds to 600 milliseconds by allowing validators to vote while transaction execution proceeds in parallel. It also targets intra-shard finality below 250 milliseconds and cross-shard settlement of roughly 2.4 seconds, while leaving epoch length, addresses, keys and balances unchanged. More than 5,000 nodes must migrate to compatible software. On Sept. 1, 95.35% of 5,171 nodes were still running v1.11.11.0, while configuration data identified round 32157661 as the activation point. EGLD crossed $4 over the weekend for the first time since May, reaching about $4.05 before retreating below that level. MultiversX expects a temporary pause in new pool transactions for about 240 rounds, or roughly 24 minutes, before Supernova begins processing queued transactions. The key near-term test is whether operators coordinate the software transition before activation and whether the mainnet delivers the promised performance afterward.
