Evotec SE and Plectonic Biotech will investigate a solid-tumor immunotherapy combining Evotec’s BiTco platform with Plectonic’s LOGIBODY® technology. LOGIBODY® uses DNA-protein therapeutics and a logic-gated mechanism requiring simultaneous recognition of multiple tumor-associated antigens before activating T cells, while BiTco uses a non-blocking CD2 antibody to provide additional costimulatory signaling. The companies aim to address limitations of conventional T-cell engagers in solid tumors, including insufficient tumor selectivity, healthy-tissue activation and T-cell exhaustion. Their research collaboration will produce preclinical proof-of-concept data. Evotec Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Cord Dohrmann said solid tumors represent approximately 90 percent of all cancers and that the combination could enhance T-cell engager activity in this setting. Plectonic CEO and Founder Dr. Klaus Wagenbauer said the partnership would explore modular, multispecific designs and controlled immune activation. Both companies have reported earlier preclinical work supporting their respective platforms.
