Korean Air has partnered with TAI, Thailand’s state-owned aviation maintenance specialist, to enter Southeast Asia’s aviation MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) market. The companies signed a term agreement (TA) on September 2 at the Korean Air Tech Center in Gangseo-gu, Busan, with the initial focus on overhauling UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters operated by the Thai Army. The work will cover maintenance, repairs, reassembly and performance improvements intended to preserve weapon-system performance. Korean Air will also help standardize TAI’s military aircraft maintenance processes and provide technical training. The partners plan to extend the cooperation to other Thai military aircraft and use the relationship as a base for wider regional MRO expansion.
