Pakistan’s consumer inflation accelerated to 11.15% year-on-year in August 2026 from 9.20% in July, remaining above the State Bank of Pakistan’s 5%-7% target range. Price growth increased across food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, transportation, and several other categories, with transportation inflation reaching 20.17% from 15.08% and food inflation rising to 13.89% from 10.64%. Inflation slowed in recreation and culture and education. Consumer prices rose 1.2% month-on-month in August, matching the previous period. Separately, wholesale price inflation rose to 11.82% year-on-year from 9.43% in July, its strongest growth in three months, with wholesale prices increasing 2.0% monthly.
