Raziel Therapeutics said its next-generation fat-dissolving injection RZL-012 met the primary and secondary efficacy endpoints, as well as favorable safety outcomes, in a Phase 3 registration trial in China. The single-cycle study enrolled 480 adults with submental fat, commonly known as a double chin, and showed a response-rate gap of more than 30 percentage points versus placebo at day 84. Zhuvstar, an affiliate of Fosun Pharma, conducted the trial. Raziel and Fosun plan to file a New Drug Application with China’s National Medical Products Administration and conduct additional studies in body-contouring areas including the abdomen and thighs. GC Wellbeing holds the exclusive Korean license to RZL-012 and has made a strategic equity investment in Raziel. It plans to develop the treatment for use before, after or alongside GLP-1-based obesity therapy, potentially linking localized fat reduction with the growing weight-loss market.
