Ford Motor is targeting sales of more than 100,000 Fathom electric pickups in the first year of production, a volume that would make it the first EV from a non-Tesla automaker to exceed 100,000 units for one model in a single U.S. sales year. Orders are scheduled to open in early 2027, with production beginning in the first quarter at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. The truck starts at $28,350, or $29,945 including destination and delivery charges, undercutting the Tesla Cybertruck, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Rivian R1T and Ford’s F-150 Lightning. Ford sold 84,113 electric vehicles in the United States in 2025, while the F-150 Lightning led electric pickup sales with 27,307 units, ahead of an estimated 20,237 Cybertruck sales. The Fathom is built on Ford’s universal EV platform and is intended to attract gasoline and hybrid drivers with lower costs, bidirectional power and features including BlueCruise. Its launch follows Ford’s restructuring of its EV operations, including $19.5 billion in charges, amid weakening U.S. EV demand after the phase-out of the $7,500 federal tax credit.
