Uruguay’s annual inflation rate edged up to 4.55% in August 2026 from 4.27% in June. Transportation recorded the highest price increase at 7.06%, followed by education services at 7.02%, restaurants and accommodation services at 6.78%, and health at 6.52%. Housing-related costs rose 5.13%. Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased 3.14%, while alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics rose 2.98%. Clothing and footwear fell 6.21%, making it the only category to record deflation. Consumer prices rose 0.24% from July, taking year-to-date inflation to 3.65%.
