Equinix announced Fabric One on September 2 at its inaugural Equinix Horizon customer and partner event, positioning the managed connectivity service as a unified layer for enterprise infrastructure. The platform is designed to automate routing, cloud connectivity, encryption, resiliency and failover across on-premises systems, cloud environments and network-edge resources. Its intent-based automation (networking guided by desired outcomes) allows enterprises to specify connectivity requirements while the service determines network paths. Fabric One builds on Equinix's interconnection infrastructure, which connects more than 10,500 businesses and approximately 3,000 cloud and IT providers globally, and uses the OpenAPI 3.0 Interconnect specification co-developed with AWS and Google Cloud. Equinix plans a North American beta later in 2026, followed by general availability in 2027. The company also announced collaborations with NVIDIA and Together AI focused on accelerating enterprise AI inference capabilities. Equinix said eight of the top 10 AI model providers and nine of the top 10 neocloud providers already use its exchange.
