Securitize and Socios.com announced on September 2, 2026, a partnership to develop regulated tokenized equity offerings under the Socios Equity Token brand that would represent minority ownership stakes in professional sports teams. Socios.com, powered by Chiliz Group, will lead relationships with teams, owners and fans, while Securitize will handle securities issuance, investor onboarding, ownership records and transfers through its regulated U.S. and European infrastructure. The products target eligible fans seeking an economic link to clubs they support and institutional or private equity investors seeking sports franchises as an alternative asset class, and they are distinct from Socios.com’s Fan Tokens, which center on engagement rather than ownership. The first offering is expected to use Securitize’s fully authorized European Trading and Settlement System under the EU DLT Pilot Regime. Securitize received that authorization in November 2025 from Spain’s National Securities Market Commission for blockchain-based trading and settlement across all 27 EU member states and selected Avalanche for the European system, designed to connect with its U.S. infrastructure. Participating teams, investment terms, eligibility rules and supported blockchains will be disclosed only after individual offerings are approved. Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo said regulated infrastructure can give owners a new way to issue and administer equity while preserving investor protections, and the structure could allow minority sales without surrendering control, though voting and governance terms will depend on each deal. The firms estimate professional sports franchises as an approximately $500 billion global market that has remained largely private. No products are currently available for purchase or investment. Securitize began NYSE trading in July after a roughly $400 million SPAC transaction, tokenized its own SECZ common stock on Solana and Avalanche the same day, and later expanded when Securitize Capital became an SEC-registered investment adviser. No clubs or launch dates have been named; execution still depends on club, league and regulatory approvals.
