A broad September risk-asset selloff pressured Shiba Inu and Dogecoin as traders assessed crypto liquidations, historically weak seasonal performance and higher Federal Reserve rate-hike expectations. Shibburn recorded 3.59 million SHIB burned over 24 hours, worth $18, a 49.90% decline in the daily burn rate, although weekly burns rose 119% to 51.02 million SHIB. Dogecoin fell 1.41% over 24 hours to $0.081 and 4.90% over the week, reducing its market capitalization to $12.74 billion and ranking it 11th among cryptocurrencies. CoinGlass reported $361 million in liquidations in the newer market reading, compared with $366 million in the earlier reading, while a hawkish Jackson Hole speech by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh and pricing for a 66% probability of a 25-basis-point September rate hike added to pressure. Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus, known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X, commented on the market declines.
