Bithumb will launch Plus Club on Sept. 4, offering eligible new subscribers and customers without trading activity this year Bitcoin rewards at an annualized 13% rate. Rewards will accrue daily based on average asset holdings, with payouts capped at 14,000 won per day, 420,000 won per month and 5 million won per year. Won-market customers must record at least 50 million won in monthly cumulative trading volume to qualify. The offer raises Bithumb’s previous anniversary benefit by 3 percentage points and follows zero-fee initiatives by DigitalX and Coinone. Despite the incentives, Upbit and Bithumb accounted for 92.77% of trading volume across South Korea’s five major won-based exchanges as of 9 a.m. on the 2nd. The competition is intensifying before virtual-asset taxation begins Jan. 1 next year, when annual income above 2.5 million won will face a combined 22% tax. Industry participants have also criticized gaps in tax classifications, loss deductions and acquisition-cost reporting infrastructure.
