Bitcoin mining pool OCEAN has stopped supporting the BIP-110 fork chain, citing limited mining activity and a change in the Blake2b proof-of-work mechanism. OCEAN said it would neither adopt nor support the BIP-110 hard fork (a protocol split creating a separate chain), and would not continue paying BIP-110 block rewards. The chain stalled after a user-activated soft-fork attempt (a backward-compatible protocol change) failed on Aug. 8. Rewards from post-fork mining could not be used because they failed to reach 100 confirmations; OCEAN said those rewards were permanently frozen at BIP-110 block 961,639. Miners seeking to continue supporting BIP-110 were directed to CONVOY Mining, which plans to support the Blake2b hard fork and maintain BIP-110 share records.
