Huons N, part of Huons Group, has tripled annual capacity at its Chuncheon plant to 16,500 tons after receiving approval as a PSM site (process safety management facility). The upgrade enables organic-solvent extraction and concentration using materials such as ethanol, while new equipment supports filtration, purification, spray drying and freeze drying. The plant can produce ginseng and red ginseng concentrates, natural-substance extract powders, fermented products, and ingredients based on lactic acid bacteria and other microorganisms. It also obtained GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and can culture and ferment up to 3,000 tons of microorganisms annually, including YT-1, a lactic acid bacteria strain for menopausal women. Huons N plans to expand its OEM and ODM (outsourced manufacturing and development) business for health functional foods and functional ingredients.
