South Korea announced plans to relocate the National Assembly, ministries and state-run institutions from the Greater Seoul area as part of the Lee Jae Myung administration’s balanced-growth pledge. Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said most of the country’s 350 state-run agencies currently in the Seoul metropolitan area will move out starting next year, with minimal exceptions. The policy is intended to distribute administrative functions and public institutions more broadly beyond the capital region.
