Elon Musk’s America PAC disclosed $800,475 in independent expenditures from mid-to-late August for Republican candidates in competitive 2026 races, its first reported midterm outlays, with nearly 90% flowing to seven Senate contests and the largest shares in Texas and Maine. More than $247,000 supported Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton against Democrat James Talarico in Texas, where SpaceX is headquartered, while about $170,000 backed Sen. Susan Collins in Maine and nearly $106,000 aided Sen. Jon Husted in Ohio—both Appropriations members tied to federal funding that includes major SpaceX contracts—plus further Senate spending in New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan and Alaska, including support linked to Armed Services member Sen. Dan Sullivan. House outlays of nearly $90,000 assisted Republicans on Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security and related panels. All listed spending was categorized as printing for mail and field materials dated Aug. 18–31, with two items set for Sept. 10. Democrats criticized the push, including more than $90,000 opposing Rep. Chris Pappas in New Hampshire over Musk’s prior Department of Government Efficiency role. The totals remain a fraction of the up to $120 million New York Times-reported midterm target after FEC figures through June 30 showed roughly $50.3 million raised, $52.3 million spent and about $274,000 cash on hand.
