The Korea Exchange said 756 listed companies had disclosed corporate value enhancement plans by the end of August, up from 92 at the end of 2024 and representing 83.4% of the combined KOSPI and KOSDAQ market capitalization. The total included 354 KOSPI companies and 402 KOSDAQ companies. Nine companies filed new plans in August, while 11 submitted periodic disclosures reviewing existing plans, bringing the cumulative number of periodic disclosures to 124. Shareholder-return measures included SK hynix’s decision to buy back and cancel 40 trillion won in shares, buybacks approved by Meritz Financial Group and Celltrion, and Samsung Electronics’ 90 trillion-to-110 trillion-won shareholder-return plan for the year. The Korea Value-Up Index gained 80.3% from the end of last year to 3,240.84, while 13 related ETFs reached 3.5 trillion won in combined net assets, up 618.2% from launch.
