Pacific Gas and Electric Company announced SHARE, or Smart Home Assets for Reliability and Efficiency, a virtual power plant that will coordinate home batteries, smart devices and battery-enabled heat pumps across selected Bay Area communities. Tesla, Sunrun and Renew Home will help enroll nearly 21,000 existing flexible energy devices, while Carrier will supply battery-enabled heat pumps for new deployments in Santa Clara and Alameda counties. Google will fully fund customer incentives, technology deployment and program delivery under the proof of concept. PG&E will manage planning, performance analysis and validation, with Demand Side Analytics coordinating the distributed resources. The utility expects the network to begin supporting California's electric grid as early as fall 2026 and continue through 2027. PG&E shares recovered 0.26% to $13.36 in premarket trading after falling 5.19% to $13.33 in the previous session.
