Zoox is expanding its commercial robotaxi service in Las Vegas to include rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport beginning Thursday. Its purpose-built vehicles will pick up and drop off passengers near baggage claim at both terminals, offering a more direct airport option than Uber and Lyft, whose pickup point is in a nearby parking garage. Amazon shares traded at $258.73, up 1.47%, and were approaching $259 resistance, with $258 and $257 identified as short-term support levels. The expansion follows a temporary two-year federal exemption covering eight vehicle safety standards and permitting Zoox to deploy up to 2,500 vehicles despite its robotaxis lacking a steering wheel and conventional pedals. Zoox began charging for rides on August 10, plans testing in San Diego and Houston, and has released a safety framework. Tesla, Uber and Waymo have received Nevada permits for commercial robotaxi services in Clark County, potentially enabling up to 8,000 vehicles there over the next 12 months.
