Oman has rejected Iran’s proposal to charge commercial vessels environmental and security service fees in the Strait of Hormuz, including on a voluntary basis. Regional officials said an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claim that the two countries had agreed to the plan was untrue. The claim followed talks in Tehran between Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Busaidi, after which IRGC spokesman Hosseini said Iran and Oman had agreed on dividing the strait’s waters and allocating related revenue.
