U.S. stock-index futures were little changed Thursday evening as investors remained cautious about interest rates ahead of Friday’s nonfarm payrolls report. S&P 500 Futures slipped to 7,752.25 points by 19:20 ET (23:20 GMT), Nasdaq 100 Futures fell 0.07% to 29,503.50, and Dow Jones Futures were flat at 53,737.0. Lululemon Athletica slid 18% after cutting its annual guidance, while Adobe fell 1.5% after saying insider Anil Chakravarthy will become President and CEO in December. Payrolls are expected to show a mild pickup in August, although weaker private labor data and two consecutive monthly misses against expectations have kept concerns about the labor market in focus. Inflation and employment remain the Federal Reserve’s two main considerations for adjusting rates, while inflation is still above the central bank’s 2% annual target. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said he saw signs of disinflation and that continued progress would support keeping rates unchanged, prompting markets to reduce the implied probability of a September hike to 50.4% from 60.1% a day earlier, according to CME FedWatch. Wall Street’s main indexes rose sharply Thursday as Treasury yields declined: the S&P 500 gained 1.06%, the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.4% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.18%. InvestingPro promoted a deal offering up to 50% off.
